Why we built this site

When we sat down to figure out how we felt about Measure H, we hit a familiar problem: the official ballot summary is too short to be useful, and the two campaign sites — for and against the measure — both lead with their conclusions. That’s their job. It’s not the job we wanted.

So we did what neighbors sometimes have to do: we wrote our own.

This is a small, independent site put together by a few people in San Anselmo and Fairfax. We’re not a committee, not a 501(c)(4), not paid by anyone, and not affiliated with the Ross Valley School District. We just wanted a single ten-minute read that covers what Measure H actually does, the strongest argument for it, the strongest argument against it, and the schools it funds.

We support a Yes vote. We’ve tried to be honest about that — the home page makes it explicit — while also presenting the opposition’s case fairly. If you read the No on H page and feel we mischaracterized any of the arguments, please tell us. We’ll fix it.

What you’ll find here, and when

  • The home page is the main read. If you only have ten minutes, that’s the place.
  • Yes on H goes deeper on the case for the measure: the funding history, what’s already been cut, what state receivership would actually mean.
  • No on H lays out the opposition’s argument as fairly as we know how.
  • Schools is a quick tour of the five RVSD campuses, since that’s what’s at stake.

Between now and June 2, we’ll add a few pieces here in the Posts section as the campaign develops — endorsements, debate coverage, late-breaking arguments, and answers to questions we keep getting from neighbors.

Some context for what’s coming

Ballots will be mailed to every registered voter in Marin County around May 4, 2026. They’re due by June 2, 2026 — postmarked by election day if mailed, or dropped at any official Marin County drop-off location. There’s no special election to remember; this is the regular June statewide primary, and you’ll see Measure H near the bottom of your local section.

Measure H needs 66.67% support to pass. That’s a high bar — Measure E in 2025 got 62% and still failed. So if you’ve made up your mind to vote Yes, the most useful thing you can do is talk to two or three neighbors who haven’t made up theirs.

If you’re still working through it, that’s exactly who we wrote this for.
